The desire is endless, “I want to lose weight in 1 week”, “How can I lose 20 pounds in 10 days ?”, “Does anyone know the fastest way to lose weight in 3 weeks ?”

I could go on and on with the different desires people come up with concerning their weight loss.

What does it matter if I lose 2 pounds in a day or a week ?

Yes, achieving 20 pounds weight loss in 10 days is a possibility. But, I guess you would not want to when you get to know the nitty-gritty of losing fat so fast.

Losing fat so fast is not in its entirety a wholesome idea; this is because a larger part of the weight lost comprises of water and muscle which results to slow metabolism.

This will only make it easier to gain more weight rendering your initial weight loss a futile procedure!

Have you not noticed ? The more muscle a person has the better they look! In other words the less muscle a person has the not so fine the look!

So, what has the muscle got to do with my keeping my weight loss ? You may ask.

Simple, because you have lost mainly water and then muscle especially muscle, your metabolism rate is slowed down what this entails is that you burn fats s-l-o-w-l-y!

For those of us who may not know exactly what metabolism is; this is the series of processes by which food is converted into energy and products needed to sustain life.

There you have it! Loss of muscle = slow conversion of food into energy.

Which means you retain your fats, and pronto! You are back to status quo or probably worse off than where you were!

Now this is not meant to rubbish fad diets. One can get involved with fad diets once in a while for different reasons :

To pass a physical exam, to be able to fit into a dress for a special occasion, to catch the fancy of that special someone who is coming to town after a long while :)

You know what your reasons are when you do these things!, But you have to be realistic that the faster it goes the easier it is to gain it back!

To lose weight that you want to keep that way for a long time or permanently, you need to go slow and steady and this will keep your metabolism in shape to attain and maintain your weight loss goal.

Losing 10 pound in 4 weeks is easier and less strenuous than attempting to lose 22 pounds in 2 weeks.

There are different ways you can device to attain a slow but sure means of weight loss; substituting low calorie foods for higher calorie foods and making sure you burn fats through daily physical activities like walking, cycling, running etc

Remember to take it slow; It is not the intensity that really matters in the long run but your consistency with these exercises.

So, it is not a question of whether you can achieve weight loss in a short time but knowing what you are in for when you tend to go on the fast lane!
